Peter Ramsey is a highly acclaimed, Academy Award-winning director known for bringing an exceptional breadth of knowledge, craft, and creativity across genres.
Ramsey is the first Black person to be nominated and to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film for the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2019. The film also won Best Animated Feature at the Golden Globe Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards, and earned a 97% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In 2021, Ramsey teamed up with Netflix to direct the debut episode of Barrack and Michelle Obama’s breakthrough show, We The People, and the entire first season of Lost Ollie, starring Grammy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Mary J. Blige and Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez.
Most recently, Ramsey has been tapped by Lucasfilm’s Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy to direct the upcoming series Ahsoka—the latest entry into Star Wars universe starring Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen. He has two feature film projects in development: Blood Count, a period vampire thriller to be produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill, and Love In Vain, a biopic centering on Blues pioneer Robert Johnson.
A lifelong resident of Los Angeles, Ramsey grew up in Crenshaw, graduating from Pali High and attending UCLA to study painting before filmmaking. Ramsey is an incredibly proud father to three children.
