A revolutionary XR music video brings Cathy Ang into Netflix’s vibrant animated world

“Over the Moon” was Netflix’s first fully animated feature film. To celebrate this momentous occasion, they turned to Mirada director Chris Riehl to create an equally innovative music video for the movie’s theme song “Rocket to the Moon” by Cathy Ang. Shooting on a revolutionary XR stage, Riehl and his team captured a live performance of the song that placed Ang directly into the richly detailed animated world of the film. Prior to the performance, everything was meticulously created in pre-viz, orchestrated down to the last detail to allow for a seamless integration between Ang’s performance and the fluid animated elements that dance, float, and drift around her, merging the real world with the world of “Over the Moon” in beautiful synchronicity.
